Felicity's First Two Months

Its amazing how quickly two months can fly by. While the months have really moved, the days can sometimes drag. Felicity has been sleeping better every since Laureen discovered that if we wrap her up at night she won't wake herself up. Needless to say Felicity sleeping 8-10 hours for her long stretch is better than 3-4 hours she had been sleeping. At her two month check up, she was 12 lbs 8 oz and 24 inches tall. That puts her in the 74th percentile of weight and 95th percentile of height. Felicity had to get three shots but did fantastic. Some screaming after the third for about 10 seconds then just wanted to smile and cuddle.

Here are some great pictures for the first two months:

Felicity on the Move

Last night as we were getting Felicity ready for her bath she showed just how strong she really is becoming. I was filling the baby tub at the kitchen sink while Laureen was changing Felicity in the family room. Suddenly I hear Laureen say, "Stop that, you're too young to do that!" I look over and Felicity has decided that she wants to plant her feet on the changing mat and lift her rear end in the air. After four or five times we decided it was time to stop this sillyness and begin bath time.

Later that evening Felicity was laying on my chest smiling and laughing when she decided that it would be more comfortable on my shoulder. Planting her feet on my hand she began to shimmy her way up my chest to get more comfortable. It seems as if we have one strong little girl on our hands.

Felicity Marie Rudolph

Tuesday's are normally reserved for making the trek to Irwin for a day of injections and patient socializing. The 24th of July brought a new kind of Tuesday experience. Laureen and I had learned the previous Thursday that her doctor, Dr. Kaminski, wouldn't let her go past the 24th without having begun labor. We got the call at 10:30 a.m. that Magee Hospital was ready for us to head down for Laureen to be induced. We drove down to Oakland with a quiet nervousness filling the car. I know I was shaking with excitement and a little fear as we got closer. Needless to say I was a bit irritated when we had to circle the parking garage to find a parking spot.

My mindset going in was that this would be a quick process (6-7 hours). I had no idea what we were about to get into. Tuesday turned into Wednesday and our baby still decided she wanted to keep us waiting. After 36 hours of labor (in which Laureen was an absolute trooper) we welcomed Felicity Marie into our family at 12:47 a.m. on July 26, 2012.

She weighed 8 lbs 1 oz and was 21 inches long. I was a little nervous cutting the cord, but after some encouragement from Laureen I was able to get the shaking under control and cut it. It was an extremely long process, but well worth the ending.

In the beginning...

So here we are, about to embark into fatherhood and I've taken after my dear sister and created a blog. The main goal is to keep a record of happenings and allow family and friends to keep track of how fatherhood is progressing. Hopefully I can keep up with the news, notes, and pictures.

Here we go...
